Kareri Lake Trek
Kareri Lake Trek is an easy trek in Himachal Pradesh that leads into the Dhauladhar ranges. The trek begins from Dharamshala, continues by road to Kareri village, and then follows a trail through dense pine and oak forests, river streams, wooden bridges, rocky sections, and meadows with boulders.
The trek reaches Kareri Lake, a high-altitude glacial lake set among green meadows and mountains. Along the route, trekkers may encounter Gaddi tribe and shepherd settlements and experience the mountain lifestyle of the region.
Although graded easy, the trek includes steep ascents, uneven rocky paths, downhill stretches, and boulder sections. Basic fitness and preparation are important because the trek reaches high altitude and altitude-related discomfort such as headaches, dizziness, nausea, or shortness of breath may occur.
The best time mentioned for the trek is spring, summer, and autumn, especially April, May, June, October, and November. The total trekking distance is around 26 km and the duration is 3 days.
