About The Great Indian Trails
Born on the trails.
Built for the trails.

We are a team of Himalayan trekking enthusiasts, mountain guides, and storytellers who believe every ridge has a story and every trail a transformation. TGIT exists to take you deeper — into the mountains, and into yourself.

Our Story
A campfire idea that became a movement

It started with a single trek to Hampta Pass in 2016 — a group of friends, a borrowed tent, and a map that got them thoroughly lost. What they found instead was something no map could capture: the silence of a glacier at dawn, the warmth of a local shepherd’s chai, the quiet triumph of reaching a high camp under a sky blanketed in stars.

From that trip came a question: why is it so hard to find a Himalayan trek that actually respects the mountains? One that doesn’t rush past the scenery, that trains and equips you properly, that hires local guides and porters at fair wages, that leaves the trail better than it found it?

The Great Indian Trails was built to answer that question. We curate routes across the Indian Himalayas — from the alpine meadows of Uttarakhand to the moonscapes of Ladakh, from the sacred valleys of Himachal to the wild eastern frontiers of Sikkim and Arunachal. Each itinerary is personally scouted, obsessively refined, and led by guides who’ve walked it a hundred times and still love it.

Our Philosophy
“The mountains don’t owe you anything. They reward preparation, humility, and patience — exactly the things a great trek should teach you.”
— Founder, TGIT
Safety first, always

Every departure is led by certified Wilderness First Responders. We carry oxygen, advanced first aid, and maintain real-time communication with base. No summit is worth a life.

Leave no trace

We follow strict carry-in/carry-out policies. We partner with local NGOs on trail cleanup camps and offset our transport emissions on every trek.

Community roots

70% of our team — guides, cooks, and porters — come from mountain villages along our routes. Your trek fee directly sustains those communities.
